Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2025
PlumTaste (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it. We keep this intentionally readable — no legal jargon where plain English works just as well.
1. What data we collect
Account information: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials (or the token provided by Apple / Google Sign In).
Usage data: We collect information about how you use the app — screens visited, features used, interactions with recipes (cooked, saved, rated, skipped). This data powers our taste-learning engine.
Pantry and recipe data: Ingredients you add, recipes you save, meal plans you create, and your personal taste profile are stored in your account to provide the core service.
Device and technical data: Basic device information (OS version, device type, app version) for error tracking and compatibility purposes.
2. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Provide and personalise the PlumTaste service
- Learn your taste preferences and improve recommendations
- Send expiry notifications and meal planning reminders (if enabled)
- Process your subscription and manage billing
- Diagnose bugs and improve app performance via crash analytics
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.
3. Third-party services
We work with the following third-party providers:
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting
- RevenueCat — subscription and billing management. Your payment is processed by Apple or Google; PlumTaste never sees your card details.
- Sentry — error monitoring and crash reporting
- OneSignal — push notification delivery
- Cloudinary — recipe image hosting and delivery
Each provider is contractually bound to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
4. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated usage data (not linked to your identity) may be retained for product analytics.
5. Your rights (GDPR & privacy laws)
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@plumtaste.com. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Push notifications
If you allow push notifications, we use OneSignal to send you reminders about expiring pantry items, meal plan suggestions, and app updates. You can opt out at any time in your device settings or from within the PlumTaste app.
7. Analytics
We use Sentry for crash reporting and performance monitoring. Data collected is used solely to identify and fix technical issues and is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.
8. Children's privacy
PlumTaste is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via the app or email. Continued use of PlumTaste after changes means you accept the updated policy.
